Geylang Serai has long been woven with stories of textiles, tailors and traditions passed from hand to hand.
In this tactile workshop led by NASRIN and SAFIAH, we’ll thread together the connections between fabric, craft and community.
THREADS OF GEYLANG invites you to learn simple stitching, try textile stamping and upcycle old clothes with motifs inspired by the neighbourhood from batik prints to woven carpet patterns.
Along the way, we’ll explore how fabric connects people, culture and nature, and how small acts of mending can renew more than just what we wear.
WHAT 2 BRING?
A piece of clothing or item that you’d like to mend or upcycle. We’ll also have other materials at the venue for you to experiment with your pieces!
